How to install Cimtools for SolidWorks
Installation of Cimtools
Are you a SolidWorks user user looking to optimize your workflow? Cimtools are just what you need. In this blog post, we guide you step-by-step on how to install and activate Cimtools for SolidWorks.
Download and Decompression
- Start by downloading the cimtools.zip file. You can get the download file with the free 15-day demo we offer by by clicking here.
- Unzip the file and run the Setup.exe file, which will start the installation wizard.
Installation Process
- Select the desired installation directory.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and click ‘Next’ until the installation is complete.
- Important: Make sure SolidWorks is closed during this process.
SolidWorks Add-in Activation
- Open SolidWorks.
- Go to Tools > Add-ons.
- In the dialog box, select the Cimtools plug-in to activate it.

Obtaining the License Code
- You can acquire a license code by purchasing or requesting a free trial. Visit our store to see the different Cimtools licensing options available.
- To activate, open the side panel inside SolidWorks and select ‘License Info’, a form will open to enter the license key.
Connection Requirements
- Internet access is required.
- Allows access to the website cimtools.com and to ports 80 (mandatory) and 443 (optional).
- TCP protocols are mandatory and UDP is recommended for an optimal connection.
Introduction of the License Code
- Enter your valid license code in the corresponding field.
- Click the ‘Activate’ button to complete the process.
License Purchase:
- Access to the Cimtools store to purchase a valid license, you can choose between Basic and Premium.
- The payment process is done through a secure web banking platform.
- Once the payment is approved, you will receive an email with your license information.
